It’s time for the Second Annual Sailing Short Film Competition as part of the 2020 Sailing Film Festival! We’ve gone virtual this year and changed some of the rules, but we’ve also really upped the ante on the prizes.
This is now a short film competition for youth 25 and under split into two age categories; Juniors under 15 and Seniors aged 15-25. Films can be a group effort if you want to collaborate with friends.
The Grand Prize for ALL contestants is $1,000 cash! On top of that, both age categories will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners ($250, $150 and $100 prizes, respectively). The first 10 entries overall will also get a ticket in our raffle for a new Laser XD (see WIN A NEW LASER for details).
Films must incorporate the power of wind propulsion in some way, be 3-minutes or less, and meet all criteria on the entry form (see SUBMIT A FILM for all requirements). Comedy, drama, action, thrillers, etc. all accepted…be creative!
Five finalists from each category will be chosen by the general public via a popularity vote on this site starting at 12:00AM PST on October 5th and ending at 11:59PM PST on October 11th, 2020. Rally enough of your friends to vote, and you could make the finals.
On October 18th, the winners will be chosen by the OYSF Board of Directors during our virtual Finalists Screening Party. Details on how to attend this event will be coming soon. Make sure to join our email list for updates. We hope to be able to host a simultaneous in-person event as well, but we’ll let you know how that looks as we get closer to the fall.
