Sara Morrissey

Sara Morrissey was introduced to sailing at a young age in Astoria, Oregon where she grew up. She spent many summer days on her family’s C&C “The Red Snapper”, battling the waves on the mouth of the Columbia. Years later, Sara reconnected with sailing when she moved back to Portland, Oregon. She now crews on her family’s Merit 25 “OB1” and races whenever possible. Sailing not only gives her a chance to connect with her family but has also taught her to be fearless, strategic, and adventurous on and off the water. She is excited to join OYSF to introduce others to sailing so that youth can have opportunities to enjoy a sport that builds lifelong skills.

Sara is the Public Affairs Manager for Travel Oregon where she works to develop and implement public policy and related communication strategies to achieve and advance the agency’s mission and strategic goals. Sara holds a BA in Economics and Spanish from Williams College as well as a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University. She is a native speaker of both English and Spanish and is an avid non-profit volunteer in Portland. On the weekends you can find Sara backpacking, rafting, sailing, snowboarding or enjoying a cold craft beer.
