GORGE Junior Sailing offers summer sailing camps for ages 9 to 18, from beginning sailors to advanced racers and all levels in between. Discover sailing classes are offered for children ages 5 to 8 with parent attendance. Classes are held in the Hood River Marina and on the Columbia River, when conditions allow, sailing in Optimist prams, O’pen Bic dinghies and double-handed Club 420s. All students learn basic sailing skills including rigging, knot tying, and water safety from our experienced and enthusiastic staff of US Sailing certified instructors.
Andy and Jaime Mack are co-founders of the GORGE Junior Sailing program now directed by Mallory Bozina. As prior US Sailing Team members and avid cruisers, we believe that sailing fosters independence, teamwork, sportsmanship, individual responsibility and environmental awareness. GORGE Junior Sailing is the proud recipient of the 2011 US Sailing’s Outstanding Seasonal Program Award.
